Hi, nice to "meet" you. I noticed a new follower, and I always love to look at other artist's work. The landscape is lovely; great technique! - but I see your dilemma. I'd either move the sign to the left - as that area is rather empty - or remove it altogether. It interferes with the shoreline view as it is. If all else fails, turn it upside down and re-evaluate!
Hi Patrice,Thank you so much for the input. I was really stuck, and I think I will remove the sign. Have a great day. Joan
Humm, good questions. I agree about the sign. I'd move it or remove it because it's in a spot that doesn't improve the painting. What I see is the need to define a focal point and everything else can be left undefined. Right now everything has been brought to the same level of finish so my eye is looking everywhere instead of stopping at the focal area. You're almost there with this one. Play with it and see what happens.
Hi Kim, This is great, the sign is going. Now to define the focal point. Thank you helping me with this one. Joan
Hi, Joan! thanks for visiting my blog. This is a beautiful start. My Dad grew up in Port Jeff, and until he passed away a couple of years ago, I'd visit the St. James, Setauket area every summer. You've really captured the magic of Long Island.
