Happy Friday everyone. Today I went back to painting in oils. I've been using the Golden Open acrylics for most of my work.

I started in acrylic background, once again influenced by Gary Jenkins. It's a fun technique. Then painted the flowers in oil. I will try to finish this tomorrow, it needs more tones.

  1. This is coming along fine, Joan! I like how you do roses. They aren't easy. Thanks for visiting and joining my blog. I know the beaches on the great south bay. Loved the sunsets there! Used to live in Sayville.

Thank you for the kind words. I was in Sayville yesterday, I belong to the Wet Paints Studio group. We are having our Mothers Day show at the Arboretum in Oakdale.

    Best Regards

  3. I like the start with the loose background. So Cathyann, who's living in my neck of the woods is a LI girl. Geesh, this is a small world! :-)
Thank you again for your earlier kindness, Joan, and for your beautiful paintings.

  5. Liz, and Kim, thank you. Liz it is a small world. My daughter moved to Virginia, met her future husband there. Came back home got married and now are living on Long Island once again.

Kim thank you. I love painting flowers. I think I have to place this arrangement in a vase. Don't like the spray affect.

    Happy Painting

  8. Hi Nancy,
Thank you so much. I am suffering from a wounded ego this weekend. Thank you again.
