Country Road

4x6 oil study of a country road, once again using white, black, yellow ochre and sap green.

I just visited Karen P.'s blog, and she had a great tip. She's an excellent artist and I always learn something from her postings. Have a great day everyone.

  1. This has a soft rainy day feel to it...very moody..great job, Joan. There is unity in color limitations that makes this strong.

  2. I like this one Joan. As Kathyann said above,
Moody rainy day, I agree. I note that you use Black in your colour scheme. I`ve never used
black myself, but I will try it and see what
happens. All the best my friend.

  3. A very pleasant painting, Joan. I love your muted, controlled colours. And yes, black is now so absolutely acceptable!

  5. Hi Vic, thank you. I had heard about using the black, white, and yellow ochre some time ago. But Mariano, just informed me about Zorns Palette. Its white, black, yellow ochre and cad. red light. I have never heard of Anders Zorn, I checked his site and yes he was truly a master artist. By the way I love your snow scene some much, I used your palette my friend.

    Have a great day
