Simba is my sons Shilo Shepherd he weighs 125lbs. and is 30 inches tall. He is a gentle giant. As for this painting, the old saying "if you don't use it, you lose it". Well I have my work cut out for me next year. I will begin to do more pet portraits. Mainly dogs.

  6. Joan, this is an outstanding Animal painting. exactly how I would love to paint myself. Yes, you need to do lots of portraits of animals especially if you paint them as good as this lovely Animal. I`m going to use one of your sayings and that is--It`s a master.
    All the best my friend.

  13. He really does look like a gentle giant! I've decided for myself that I'm going to do portraits of all my pets early next year; I have five so I think they'll make good practice. Here's wishing us both luck!

  14. Hi Kerri, thank you, he is gentle. Thank the Lord, I wouldn't want him not to be at 140lbs. Yes do your pets. We both have our work cut out for us don't we.
