pen and ink

pen and ink and water wash. Haven't had the time to paint this week. After visiting my friend Laurie's blog, I thought it would be fun just to do a pen dipped in India ink and then brushed with water. If you want to see some beautiful oriental brush painting visit Laurie's blog. She also does beautiful work in acrylic.

Gray Matters 3

My final study of this still life. Of course this is not a good painting. In my haste I completely neglected important elements, such composition.

On a positive note. It was a necessary failure for future successes.

Gray Matters 2

Continuation of my study, working on the same canvas.

Gray Matters 1

Study of gray, 14x18 oil on canvas.

Carolyn's Violet

8x10 oil on canvas panel. It needs just a little more tweaking. The fun thing about this sketch, it was done partially with a palette knife.

Spring

I haven't painted all week. I had a problem with my Sony software. This painting was done last spring. So this is just a test to see if everything is working. Now it is time to get back to what I love the most, painting. After my family.

Having fun. I wanted to try a different approach, more impressionistic. 8x10 oil.

One of the places we painted in plein air this past summer. I did this watercolor sketch from a photo.

Brookwood Hall Lake

Sketch on canvas.

I'm sorry I deleted this from my blog the other day. Thank you to the people that sent positive comments. I will continue to work on this and learn from my mistakes.

I added people in my pumpkin patch. Always a little hesitant about people in the landscape. Afraid the scale my be off. I have them in the distance so maybe it works. I'll look at it tomorrow. Have a great day everyone.
