Before the Snow

Here it is 2010. The little ones have gone home. Today was my first day back to working with color. This is a 14x18 oil on canvas panel. I'm still using the photos taken during the summer and fall. I am in desperate need of a change. I think maybe tomorrow I will go back to working from life. It is snowing again.

I hope everyone is enjoying there early days of the new year. Happy painting.

  1. Very nice job on the greens. That is the difficult color for me.

  2. Hi Joanne,
this is a very serene painting, just what you neeed for getting ready for a snow storm! I heard there is a very rigid temperature in New York, if you go out make sure to bundle up and stay on the lee side (may be inside a gazebo a La David Lussier). My little one's went home today as well and the home feel unusually quiet, after 4 days.

  3. This is a scene of a place similar to places I like to get way to. Nice painting. I wish Blogspot gave more detail...I think I see some geese or swans. This is one reason I have my own web site. So I can control the image view size. Keep up the good work!

  4. Hi Joan. As Mariano says, a very serene painting, well done. I especially like the Sky. I`m about to post a painting done from a photo that an American friend sent me. He likes it and I hope you do as well. Keep that painting brush going my friend, and all the best.

  5. Hi Laurie, thank you for stopping by. I am still learning about the greens also. Check out Alex Perez video. In this painting I mixed ultra marine blue with cad yellow light, and medium. I also used viridian and alizarian crimson and sometimes black and yellow. So much to learn. Happy painting.

  6. Hi Mariano, aren't we lucky to have those little ones visits. As for painting in the snow, I am afraid I chickened out. Way to cold. Thank you for your encouraging words on my painting, it is appreciated. Have a great day.
