Another beginning

Fighting off an artist block. I spent the whole morning painting flowers on this 16x20 canvas panel.

No matter what I did, just couldn't make it happen. That's when it was apparent, just not in the mood to paint flowers.

Now this is no way the final painting, but I do like the subject. My grandson had his little league baseball game last night and this was the scene on the opposite side of the field.

I know the reflections aren't quite done as well as the swan. It's just important to keep this journal going. Happy painting everyone.

  3. It's funny you mention the reflections, because before I read your statement, I was going to say actually how much I liked them! Maybe a few in the reed-y part in the background too?
I agree with Sue, lots of serenity here...I love these colors.

  4. augh, artist block, not fun. but I must admit that this painting is off to a wonderful start... it is lovely, serene and has a touch of melancholy in the tone which in my opinion makes it that much more interesting.
    thank you for sharing.

  10. Hi Ralph,
Don't you just hate those mornings. But I must say, they are very necessary. I think our hands know what to paint, if we just let them do their thing. Sounds crazy, I know. Oh well, have a great day.

  11. Hi Joan,
Congratulations on ending up with something that works! I think swans have a way of working themselves in to paintings that otherwise would not have worked. You did a lovely job on this one.
    Cheers, Sandy.

  13. Hi Joan!... Serene comes easily to mind when I see this piece... a quiet place free of the anguish we all experience... when the "Muse" eludes... even avoids us!''

"You" should be pleased with the result here... a lot of other visitors are!

    Good painting!
    Warm regards,
    Bruce
