Islip Marina

5x7 oil, another sketch from the Islip Marina, only this was painted at home from my watercolor sketch and photos.

This one a day challenge isn't really working for me. Just came back from the STAC opening reception. I did have two of my paintings that were accepted. I will continue to study and paint the smaller pieces but just not feel the need to post everyday.

Happy painting everyone.

  1. I know how you feel Joan. Don't burn yourself out. I am also thinking of not posting everyday. This is a wonderful painting! Love the green grasses with the blues of the sky and water! Post when you can and enjoy painting...

  2. Hi Joan!.... Another fine study... very peaceful... very sunmmer[y] feel!

Yuo know Joan... "I" would not judge anyone's process or intentions. Some folks thrive on the daily painting challenge thingy!Great!

My own goal at this stage of my life is to paint to my own schedule based upon my own interests... time available... and to give to each piece "I" undertake... the very best of my ability.

"I" feel that it is better for "Me" to create each painting not having added outside pressure to take away from the pure enjoyment of my painting process.

In short... one original...well constructed... fully considered and realized work seems more pleasing to my tastes... than seven hurried and mistake-riddled mediochre attempts that fulfill someone elses's goals and objectives.

"I" paint out of need... for pleasure and the joy of painting Joan! I grow with every new challenge that I create and achieve. "I" sense that ...."You".... think and feel much the same way!

Be bold! Dare to take the wheel... and steer your ship on its own voyage of discovery and adventure!

Godd luck... and Good Painting Joan!
    Warmest regards,
    Bruce

  3. Hi Joanie,

I agree with Bruce, don't put pressure on yourself, it will take the fun away. I like the greens and yellows of this painting and the soft blue.
