Meadow Croft Estate Step 1, the sketch

I have tried what Bruce Sherman shared on his blog. The process, first the sketch. I did this sketch in oil, using raw sienna.


  1. Joan, this has a wonderful old world feeling. Beautiful and warm, I love it.

  2. Hi Joan!.... Glad to see that "You" are "getting some good mileage" out of the tonal study start.

    It obviously works for you well and gives you a good foundation upon which to build structure and colour as the opainting process goes forward.

    I like what you have done with your muted palette- very wistful mood!
