Finished

It was necessary to see this one to the finish. All I can say about it is that it was a struggle all the way.

I changed the composition a bit, a little more work on the vase then I will call it finished, it was fun.

Maybe Tomorrow

Maybe tomorrow I will learn from today's mistakes. I painted this evening, in poor lighting. This is a 5x7 oil on canvas board.

Clouds and Water

I am fascinated with the sky and water. It's very interesting to see the different look that is achieved using various combination's of the primary colors. This is an 8x10 oil study on canvas panel.

Year of Possibilities

I'm quoting my cousin Sue. She will be starting her blog soon. Well thanks to Vic and Judy, wonderful artist. I dared to try painting with a palette knife. Wow, it aint easy!. Didn't use anything to work from, just wanted to play. So it is, my first. I'll call it my little ugly duckling. It was fun.

Sayville #2

Back in the saddle. I had to finish this one. I just wanted to paint the sky and water as it was. Grey and green not the bright blue I usually paint. I also wanted to get the motion of the water. I borrowed the color palette from Vic. I love the softness of his work.

Sayville Dock

8x10 study of Sayville dock. Can't seem to get into painting today. Came down with a cold. It's time for chicken soup and rest. Happy painting everyone.

In My Studio

The process. The photo, a black and white study and then color. It always amazes me how every step is so important. I was watching one Alex Perez's videos. There is so much to learn. I love his process of laying in color then going back a few days later to add more glazes, not to mention his wonderful brushwork.

I am learning so much from all of you wonderful artist.

Before the Snow

Here it is 2010. The little ones have gone home. Today was my first day back to working with color. This is a 14x18 oil on canvas panel. I'm still using the photos taken during the summer and fall. I am in desperate need of a change. I think maybe tomorrow I will go back to working from life. It is snowing again.

Black and White Study
