Field of Daisys

5x7 quick sketch of a daisy field. When leaving the boat basin , this lovely scene was just outside of the gate. I will make a few corrections, tone down the distant barn and also the distant line where the trees meet the field. Happy Painting everyone.

Path to the Bay

5x7 oil on panel.

Southhold is lovely. This is one of the vineyards that lead to the Peconic Bay. Couldn't resist adding the little bird.

Peconic Bay- Boat Study

8x10 oil on panel.

I did this in 1hr. at home. We spent Sunday in Southhold and I took so many picture, and some plein air sketches. This is just an impression.
Still must do lots of studies before committing to a larger painting.

In other words, just having fun playing with paint. Happy painting everyone.

Ship Wrecked

A funny thing happened on the way home from plein air painting. We were at the Bellport Boat basin. It was one of those days that my artist ADD grabbed hold of me. Long story short, this little 8x10 oil met with a nasty car ride home. My grandson sat on it and wore part of the boats on the seat of his pants.

Had to post something, so this will have to do for now. Must visit my fellow artist. Happy Painting everyone.

East Islip Marina

8x10 oil on canvas board.

Here is the other marina painting I started plein air.

I have no idea what kind of boat that is, but it was there, not moving and just asking to be painted.

This is just a pleasant day memory for me, it will just remain in my studio. Happy Sunday everyone.

Testing the Water

8x10 oil on board

Sunday temps in the high 80's we took the little ones to Cory beach. While they were testing the water I was testing various shades of blue for the sky and water.

This is just a quick study, I am still in the process of trying to finish a completed painting.

Oil is my first love, but I have to say I am just as attracted to watercolor. Now it is watercolor pencils. Hence three blogs. How fortunate we artist are to have this wonderful gift of art, whatever medium we choose. Happy Painting everyone.

East Islip Marina Plein Air

Last Tuesday we went to the East Islip Marina. I used my Tom Brown pochade and the day was delightful. My husband sat reading his book while I painted. In the process of studying the sky and water, a motor boat came into view. I quickly did a gesture sketch of the boat, there wasn't enough time to take a photo, so this is the best I could do.

Hopefully we will return to this spot next week. Happy painting everyone.
