Patchogue Lake

I did this in pen and ink, then experimented with watercolor. Great fun. It is a little lake in Patchogue.

The next one was just a study in watercolor washes also using pen and ink.

The floral study I used my Rotring artpen and then a water wash.

When I didn't know what to do, I just sketch the baby's stuffed toys.

All in all it's been fun doing these little studies.

  2. Again Joan, wonderful sketches, and the two paintings are brilliantly done, especially the top one. Well done my friend. I wish I had the patience to experiment with different mediums like you have. All the best Joan.

  5. Inspiring - I love these. I've been thinking it is time I did more spontaneous sketching and this is just the kick up the backside I needed. Great stuff.

  6. Hi there Joan!... Two great little landscapes. Love the focus across the lake!

The sketches show the joy that you are having in this searching. Your brushwork is lively and your response ... spontaneous!

I am particularly drawn to the stuffed bear... head tilted askew. You have given him personality as well as physical presence. Lovely Joan!

    Good Painting and Sketching!
    Warmest regards,
    Bruce

Thank you so much for your visit and kind words. I am having a wonderful time exploring so many different possibilities. Of course I will have to start producing larger work and more finished work for the up and coming shows. Or maybe not, I am having some much fun.

    all the best to you

  9. Hi Vic,

You are the one to be admired my friend. I love your latest post. Once I get this all out of my system, (playing with my new toys) I will have to settle down and start getting ready for the shows.
    I worry about that tomorrow.

    All the best to you
