Boat Studies

Boat studies, the first is the graphite water wash pencil, the second a water color study and the third a 6x8 oil on canvas that still needs work. The angle of the boats are very difficult and as you can see they aren't quite right. That will come in time with more practice. The oil , was more of a study in using a limited palette of the primary colors. All in all a productive day for me, now I am off to Home Depot to buy mdf board and have it cut into larger panels, 16x20 and 18x24.

  2. To Novice Artist.

Thank you for the visit. Yes, the graphite water wash pencil is just simply that, a graphite pencil that can be used with a brush dipped in water to achieve different tones. Very similar to the watercolor pencils. I ordered my on line. It's General's Sketch & Wash #588. Good luck and enjoy.

    All the best to you,
    Joan

  3. I love the sketches as they are! About the watercolour pencils, I believe there is a pen now with a brushpoint and filled with water. It makes the process very neat. Not available here, but maybe where you live!
