Cigar Box pochade

Well these are my cigar boxes that are great little pochades without the expense. My husband Mike used a chain and small nails to keep the back cover in a position to be able to paint.

I purchased 3 boxes and I find them great for little still life painting at the kitchen table.

I have learned so much from other artist. If you look at my side bar, there is an artist who makes their own pochade boxes as well.

Happy painting everyone.

  1. MIGHTY CLEVER JOAN!! AND WONDERFUL SKETCH TO BOOT!!! JR discount store is located just around the corner from the college where I work -- their cigar store sells some of these wooden beauties --- so useful - but this idea beats them all! BRAVA!

  7. Hi Dors,

Thank you. I love blogging it's a fountain of knowledge from other artist. When I saw this idea on one of my searches, it was slightly different. Mike used his idea of using chain instead of brass strips. It worked out rather well.

    Have a great weekend,

  10. That's a great sketch on your pochade box. Really lovely. It's fun to see your set up vs. the sketch.

I enjoyed reading your post. I don't think I could get enough of my stuff in such a small box!

  11. Hi Virginia,

Thank you for the visit. I just use this little box at the kitchen table. My stuff is all over the house. When we go out to paint I think a pack horse is needed. Oh, well, the life of an artist. Hope you are feeling better, will pay you a visit shortly.

    All the best to you,
    Joan
