Sayville Beach WIP

Still working, just did a little more on the beach scene. More tweaking needed on the building. Now I am going to play with my new cigar box pochade. Went to the local smoke shop and bought the cigar boxes, my husband made it possible to use them as my little pochade box. I will post it tomorrow.

I started this beach scene yesterday. It's an 11x14 on mdf board. I am using Brian Ryder's technique.

You can see the acrylic under painting. In the second stage I began adding more colors. I am hopeful that I can pull this one off, if not. I will do another.

Happy painting everyone.

  4. Hi Joan.
This is a wonderful painting my friend. I would say one of your best, and you do produce some gorgeous paintings. It is so powerfully done. And it looks like rain is on the way, is that right Joan? You will, if not now, soon have Galleries falling over one another to show your work. All the best Joan. ( Good old Brian eh? )

  5. Beautiful work Joan. Now I was wondering what on earth is a Pochage Box. after doing a google search. I now know what it is. Great idea as I see the Pochade boxes are quite expensive.

You are truly a dear friend. Thank you so much for all of the encouraging words. Yes Vic, I was shooting for the atmospheric look of possibly rain on the way. Brian is a wonderful teacher, and so are you, just by posting your great work.

  11. Hi Suzanne,

Thank you for the wonderful compliment. I just posted the pochade boxes. Great little things to have when you don't feel like painting in the studio. Who knows, we may meet at the Smoke Shop.

    All the best to you.
