Stonybrook Inlet WIP

Two 8x10 oils. Stonybrook was done from one of my photos. The East Islip Marina was done from a sketch done on location. It was a dull overcast, hot and humid day. Looking forward to plein air painting tomorrow. Happy Painting Everyone.

  1. Hi Joan!.... Two excellent ppieces of work Joan! Great structure for each.... and a wonderful array of values that certainly do capture that quiet... airy quality of an overcast day!

Well done Joan! Good luck "out there" tomorrow! Have a great day!

    Good Painting!
    Warmest regards,
    Bruce

  9. Great pieces. Love the slices of the island. We missed you yesterday. Did the chance of rain scare you away?

  10. Dear Bruce,

Thank you so very much. I took the advice you gave Jennifer and tried to be aware of the three tones. I am still working on my tonal values, so very, very important. Thank you again Bruce.

    All the best to you,
    Joan

Wow, what a whimp I am. Yep, it was the rain, but I did get there the day after. Did a little watercolor study. I will return again. Glad you enjoyed yourself. Love what you've been posting. I will visit later today.
