Playing with Paint

Two more oils, the first 9x12 of Sands Beach Stony Brook, the second was at one of the marinas from last summer. The Stony Brook was sketched on location and then painted at home. The second was from a digital photo.

It helps to make studio studies and prepare for plein air. Gotta say, once painting outdoors it's pray, paint, and hope for the best. Happy Painting Everyone.

  1. You're very productive with these oils Joan, you're putting me to shame! Two more beautiful paintings full of loads of memories. I love the figures you've put in some of your last few pieces. I must start to put some in mine to add a bit of life and movement:)

  2. Hi Joan.
I agree with Michael above, you are very productive my friend. Another two lovely paintings. Also I agree with you that it is best to say a little prayer to help. Well done again Joan and all the best.

  3. Hi there Joan!... You have all cylinders firing my dear in these last posts!Your confidence and increasing ease "out there is obvious.

It is always so much easier back in the studio to give work the looseness of plein air study... simply because you rely on memory and feelings... not photo reference!

    Good work Joan!

    Warmest regards,
    Bruce
