Just Playing

I received my new toys, SAI watercolor brushes and had a ball experimenting. The larger paintings are a David Dunlop technique that I learned. It's watercolor that can be erased by preparing the paper with gesso. Colors can be applied or wiped off with ease. It's amazing how it works, still haven't mastered the technique but great fun learning new things.
Must run, Mike and I are on our way out, but will return to visit all of you latest post and to thank you all for the wonderful comment on my previous post. Where does the time go?

  1. Joan, I love the textured look you have in these. Is that from the gesso? That's something I haven't tried. Hope the weather holds out for painting tomorrow and that you will be there.

  2. Hi there Joan!... Your "play"... has a real sense of energy and colour which reflects the deep sense of joy one always gets from that activity!

Exhuberant comes to mind... as an appropriate word to describe your results!

"Play"... with the look and feel... of honest-to- goodness "work"! Good stuff! Enjoy!

    Goos Painting!
    Warmest regards,
    Bruce

  3. It's good to just play and experiment with our art sometimes. Lots of lovely new textures here, Joan. Being a sketcher at heart, I do love the bottom one the most though - it's beautiful! Best wishes, Michael.
