MeadowCroft Marsh Studies

Playing with some watercolor techniques. First I painted on Strathmore Windpower Watercolor paper 140lb. cold press, using my Schmincke watercolor paints, then I used the

Cottman watercolor travel watercolor paints. It never ceases to amaze me how paper, paint and brushes handle so differently. It's like riding a bucking horse. Needless to say, today I was thrown, but I will be back in the saddle tomorrow. Happing Painting everyone.

  2. It's lovely to see you working with watercolour, Joan. These are all lovely studies. A bucking bronco lol. Yes it is a bit like that but hold on tight. It's worth the effort :)

  3. Hi there Joan!... I love the airy... loose feeling that you have captured so beautifully in each of these studies!

Do remember Joan... that studies are intended to be exactly that - oportunities to study and explore what is front of you. I don't detect any failure... or "falling off your horse" here.

New paints and new paper add up to new challenges and new outcomes! Go with "The Flow" and enjoy letting the current take you along... wherever it leads! Great work!

    Good Painting!
    Warmest regards,
    Bruce

  6. Hi joan.
All brilliant studies my friend. I don`t think I have the patience to keep trying different paints and supports. I especially love the two bottom paintings. Well done Joan and all the best.

  8. You are ready to try any medium. lol These came out good. I never get good color with the Cotman paints. I ended up taking the pans out and replacing them with W&N paints. I did get your email, and sent you the email again. I had the wrong address for you. lol I would have sworn I changed it.
