Swimming Against theTide

Water study, 5x7 gouache on mdf
Stony Brook

Hello fellow bloggers, that's  what it seems like lately.  I am so sorry for not getting to each and everyone of you.  Not complaining, life is good, and each day is filled with the joy of learning and studying my art. These are my recent studies.  Happy painting everyone.

  1. Hi there Joan!... Judging by these two very competent and colourful studies... you are not at all... "swimming against the tide"!... You're runnin' with it!

Wonderful growth Joan! Each new batch seems better than the last!

    Good Painting!
    Warmest regards,
    Bruce

  4. They're both beautiful, Joan! BUT the first one is outstanding! It would be amazing in a bigger canvas as well!! I thought of you today...we took a ride out East and passed an art show in Setauket...we didn't stop because of the crowd (no parking!)

  7. It certainly feels as if we're swimming against the tide sometimes Joan, but these are both super paintings. I especially like the sense of movement in the first one. Excellent work.

  9. Speaking of being late in getting round to people :) Stony Brook is a lovely piece Joan but I do like the different style and the feeling of the motion of the waves in the top study - and in gouache too !
