Thank you fellow bloggers

I want to just say thank you to all of you, for your prayers.  Mike, and I and my family are all safe.  We live in the center of the Island.  We experienced winds reaching 90mph.  No floods, no damage and the only discomfort was, the lack of power.

We were safe, we listened to the radio, like in the old days prior to tv, or the internet.  We burned candles and  kerosene lanterns.  We sat at the kitchen table in the evening and watch the sky and full moon.  We saw lights in sky at times, I thought it was lightening but it was transformers arching.  Which we knew it would mean no power for awhile.  But like I said we were lucky, power came back in 24hrs.

Mike and I shared time together, at one point he even said I looked young again, which in fact I thought the same about him.  But as the evening progressed we found ourselves fast asleep by 8pm.  But of course I was up at 5am the next morning.

I still worry about Hilda, I do hope they are safe.

Once again fellow bloggers I thank you all.

I am worried about Hilda too. Hope to hear from her. Is she in an area with no power - do you know?

    Thanks again

    1. Hi Julie,
Thank you so much for the kind words and your concerns about our troubles with Sandy. I am still very worried about Hilda, she was definitely in the danger zone. We will continue to pray that she is safe and warm.

  3. Good Morning Joan and Mike!... So good to hear that you are both safe after this tragic storm situation! It is certainly during these times of challenge... that our mettle is tested... and we all come to realize that those seemingly small... often taken-for-granted blessings in our daily lives... are really all that a good life requires.

I always have seen you as youthful... "inside" and out Joan! That "inner spirit" is what truly makes "You"... and your art special! It would seen to follow that your "mate-of-choice" would share these traits and principles!

Good to have you back ion the loop... and to know that you are safe... and ready to get back to the easel!

    Much Peace!
    Warmest regards... and Good Painting!
    Bruce

    1. Dear Bruce,

I thank you for the wonderful comment. Mike and I were very fortunate, we only had to endure 24hrs. without power. If only it were true for so many others. This is something that we have never had to endure. The devastation is overwhelming to so many. We will continue to pray for them, and now yet another storm is headed for us. Stay warm and safe Bruce.

      All the best to you,
      Joan

  4. Hi Joan. So glad to hear that you and Mike are safe and well. We got to see and hear quite a lot about Sandy on the UK news and it looked really awful over there. I'm glad to hear that you managed to make the most of the power-cut. It really is so different without power - it makes you appreciate how reliant we are on it but also makes you slow down and appreciate life without it.

    1. Dear Michael,

Thank you so much for your concerns and kind words. It is so true,we take the simple things in life fore-granted. We are facing another storm here in the North East. I pray for all of those that were so severely hit by Sandy, that they are spared by this storm.

      all the best to you,
      Joan

  5. Thank you JOan for letting us know ... You were one of the first I thought of ( I was even worried about all of your art) and how you would do ..In fact another blogger wrote me and wondered how you were doing. .
Living in Florida I know what it's like... Been there and without power for a week.. People don't realize what it all means to have a hurricane, flooding, etc.
I am so relieved to hear you ... BJ

  6. Hi Joan my friend.
Ditto to all that has been said above. I`m so sorry to hear of your Weather problems Joan. Just realised that your area has been hit badly. Glad that you are all okay. We had winds of 80 miles an hour. I thought that was bad, but yours, well, no way do I want to experience that Joan. Glad to hear that you and Mike are okay. have you heard from Hilda? A lovely lady there and hope she is okay as well. all the best Joan and keep safe.
    Vic.

    1. Hello my friend,

Thank you for the kind thoughts and words. Yes, it was rough going for awhile, with the howling winds up to 90miles an hour. I haven't heard from Hilda. We are in the midst of another storm. It will be a mix of rain, snow and winds.

Stay safe and warm my friend,
      Joan

  7. It's great to hear that you're okay Joan. As Michael said, Sandy has been well covered in the news here in the UK. Never having experienced anything like it I can only imagine how awful it must have been.

    1. Hi John,
Thank you so much for the kind words. We were talking about the storm yesterday. We have never experienced anything like this, especially in the North East. I know in the past Florida has been hit hard by hurricanes and other states by devastating earthquakes, but we always thought this would never happen to this area. Yet another storm is hitting us as I write, hope we don't loose electricity and more importantly those that have lost so much, don't have to endure any other hardship.

      All the best to you,
      Joan
