Vanderbilt Estate plein air
I forgot to post this oil sketch, my daughter now has it hanging in her new home.  This was done on location during the summer.  I am looking forward to painting some snow scenes.  We did get a bit of snow, turning everything into a winter wonderland.  So very ready for the Holiday season.  Happy Painting everyone.

  1. This has a wonderful feeling of depth created by the different layers starting with the tree trunk. I love the colors.
Your daughter has a gem of a painting

  2. J'aime beaucoup la composition de cette peinture... Les murs éclairés des bâtisses qui jouent à cache-cache à travers le feuillage...
Une très belle harmonie de couleurs...

    Gros bisous

  4. What a fabulous painting Joan, I really like it. I love the way you've 'hidden' the building behind the tree. Great work!! ;)

  5. Hi Joan,
I'm so happy that you're okay!! I am back home after 12 days of having no power.!! I've been with my daughter ...my neighborhood is devastated but I truly lucked out with 8 inches of water in my basement...I'm only 50 ft. from the water and the surge was truly a scare that I hope never to experience again! I lost my washing machine, dryer, hot water heater, boiler but none of that matters! I just thank God that we are okay. The red cross was "the angel of mercy"...giving everyone food and water. After three days, it was so cold that I had to leave!! Your Vanderbilt Estate is beautiful!!! I'm so happy to be home!!
