"Oh Happy Day"

Enjoying the fresh air
Yesterday was a beautiful sunny day, temps reaching 50, So Mike and I went to the Arboretum for a little plein air;  He read the History Magazine on the Kindle and started my 8x10 oil.  We lasted 45 minutes, then it just got a bit too cold.  We were both bundled in layers of clothing, but hands and feet were feeling the cold.

So it is back to work, I thank you Bruce, I am back on my bike, or back in the saddle, either one it feels wonderful. I will do some more work on my painting from a photo,

Happy Painting Everyone.

    1. Hi Hilda,

This one is going to go slow, taking my time. I really want to go back and paint this in various weather and atmospheric conditions. Please do come out in the spring the arboretum is lovely with different flowers in bloom each month well into the summer and fall.

      All the best to you,
      Joan

  2. Good evening Joanie!... Looking good Girl! You were "out there"... that's all that counts Joan! Being there revives sluggishness... and spices up the senses! We all suffer from the same rhythms of successes and failure... motivation and lassitude... blocks and epiphanies!

Like all things in life... the richness in life cannot be throughly enjoyed or appreciated without the painful parts!

Good Painting!... Keep the ball rollin'!
    Warmest regards,
    Bruce

    1. Hi Bruce,

How true, once we get through all the trials and tribulations life hands us, it is a true joy and love we experience renewed and refreshed.

      All the best to you,
      Joan

  3. Hola Joan, pintar al aire libre es muy gratificante, pero cuando hace tanto frío cuando llevas un rato no sientes las manos. Sigo tus trabajos y me parecen preciosos.

    Un fuerte abrazo

  4. They say fresh air is good for you, Joan. There's fresh air and then, there's FRESH air.

We did a show last Thursday that started early and finished late ... it never got above -4 ... but we made sales, and that warmed the spirits at least!

  5. Well done for getting out there Joan. I won't be trying any plein air painting until the spring as it's just too cold but I'm stilling getting out there with my camera. Walking in the fresh air is great and bringing back good reference photo's is the icing on the cake. Looking forward to seeing your painting finished.

    1. Dear John,

As the weather gets colder I will be doing the same. I now have an iPad, in which I can download my digi photos and work from the ipad. Wow, technology , it's all so new and exciting.

      All the best to you,
      Joan
