abstract floral study
Today was another day of child proofing my house. My daughter and her family will be here on Friday. So that being said, it is time to break away for a week. Family first , art second. My grandson is 2'/2 and the oldest being 10 and grand daughter will be 8. So need I say what a great joy it is when they visit.
I did these 2 sketches, simply because my flowers are dying and wanted to at least get an idea for future paintings in oils. I will probably have to treat myself when they return home.
So until I return in about 1 week, Happy Painting everyone. |

Hi Hilda,
DeleteThank you so much for the visit and encouragement. Hope you are all warm and enjoying the snow, with your family. I am looking forward to the kids visit.
Take care,
Joan
How lovely are these little paintings. The transparency of watercolor is perfect for capturing the softness of the flowers.
ReplyDeleteHope you all enjoy a marvelous visit.
Hi Julie,
DeleteThank you so much for the visit and lovely comment. Julie, the linseed oil, yes, I purchased the expensive brand and you are right, it's a bit pricey to be cleaning my brushes. I will use walnut oil for that, thanks for the tip.
All the best to you,
Joan

My son and his family arrive here for a week, this Saturday. Although my granddaughters are, 22, 27 and 29, my son remarried and along came another granddaughter. She was born on my birthday and is 4 ... she here arrives Saturday! Family is what we are all about!

First of all, I want to say that I'm glad you and yours are all right after the storm. I well remember the great blizzard of 1978, when we lived on Long Island and were staying with 3 teen girls while their mom vacationed on some warm, exotic island. She (the mom) had terrific timing, we thought, as we struggled through some very difficult days and nights.
ReplyDeleteI have had a delightful time browsing a number of your recent posts and enjoying your lovely art works. It's always a pleasure to visit your blog.
Dear Mary,
DeleteI thank you so much for the visit and very nice compliment. It so appreciated. Yes, I remember the 78 blizzard. Back then, my son age 12 at the time walked with me to the grocery store, on the way back he suggested a short cut. Needless to say we were in deep snow, didn't think we would make it home. We laugh about now, but I must say, it's one of my nice memories.
All the best to you,
Joan
