| Sky Study |
In the afternoon I watched my new David Dunlop dvd on skies. I did this quick study, using just linseed oil and 2 blues, white, yellow and red oxide. It was great working with non toxic oil.
Tomorrow I will try to get out and paint plein air in the yard, plenty of snow, that will be around for awhile.
Happy Painting everyone.
LOL ! and you are such a glutton for punishment.
ReplyDeleteBut I bet you will love it..
Your skies are beautiful... Happy Painting.
BJ
Hi BJ,
DeleteI am so sick of snow, never thought that would happen. But it's way too much. Now I am painting my little primrose plants. Thank you for the nice comment on my skies.
All the best to you,
Joan
YOu captured the vastness of the sky. it is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI am curious - what did you mean by non-toxic oil?
Hi Julie, thank you so much for the visit and the lovely comment. Now I wonder, about the linseed oil, I will have to watch the David Dunlop dvd. I thought he said that linseed oil and can be used and it isn't harmful. It can also be used for cleaning brushes . I will have to watch that part again to make sure I heard correctly.
DeleteAll the best to you,
Joan
linseed oil is harmless so do not worry about it. A bit expensive to clean brushes with unless it is the cheap kind. Sometimes I use walnut oil to clean my brushes and baby oil to take the paint off my hands. Oil is GOOD! I was concerned you meant a medium with turps in it - like Liquin.
DeleteGood Morning Joan!...Nice loose treatment in this study Joan! Bet the sky doesn't look anything like this... from where you are .... shovelling? We all are under the gun right now... ol' Man Winter is havin' his way with us all.
ReplyDeleteGood to see that you continue to paint ... and shovel your way through winter. That's my solution as well! Stay warm... and safe!
Good Painting!
Warmest regards,
Bruce
Hi Bruce,
DeleteThank you for the visit and the encouragement on my sky and oh yes, nothing like the sky we have been having. Just made up my own little happy sky, Bruce, getting a little sick of this snow. It's way to much. Stay warm and safe.
All the best to you,
Joan

Vic.
Hello my friend,
ReplyDeleteI almost missed your comment. As usual you are supportive and encouraging. Were your ears ringing today? Cousin Sue and I were talking about how much we love your work and how much we like you, and know that we would enjoy painting with you. In the meantime, I will be off for a week, the family is visiting.
You take care,
All the best to you,
Joan
