A View From The Bridge

16x20 Acrylic on canvas panel
This has been a work in progress for the last 3 or 4 years.  At the time it was a good idea, but now the interest is gone and I just want to get it done.  It will probably sail into my closet, but that is okay.  It was still fun.

Just want to wish everyone a Happy Easter or Passover, enjoy the Holiday.

  2. Hello my friend ,

Thank you so much Hilda, and I am wishing you and your family a very Happy Easter. Also in the spring or summer we can go there to paint if you would like that, it's the East Setauket Bridge.

    All the best to you,
    Joan

  3. Hi Joan.
Joan, I agree with Hilda, It is a beautiful painting and don`t you dare decry it. I was about to say that the yaught was too close to the centre, but the Tree in the far distant and that solitary Branch balanced it my friend, you certainly knew what you were doing here. lovely painting Joan. All the best.

    1. Hello my friend, yes, I actually thought the same thing, but then realized it wasn't in the center. The boat was actually in the photo. I waited for the boat to make its appearance before snapping the picture. I still have to decide whether or not to keep it in the painting. Thank you for your input, it is always appreciated.

      All the best to you,
      Joan

  5. It's got lots of atmosphere, Joan, and, with the reflections, the colours are a double delight.

  6. Hi there Joan!... Listen to what your Friends are saying. Sometimes we need the vision of the "third eye" to see past our own biases. I would agree that this is a lovely landscape. I think I would agree with Vic's take on the sail however. It seems out of place and demands too much attention. Place something over the sail and have a second look at the painting. Then the choice is yours... to sail on... or not!

Great light shadows and mood! I feel there!

    Good Painting!
    Warmest regards,
    Bruce

    1. Hi Bruce,

Thank you for your input and suggestion. I am on the fence about leaving it or removing it all together. It was actually a part of the scene, the boat did appear that day. I will probably tone down the sail so it isn't so stark, that may help. If not I will remove it.

      Thanks again Bruce.
      All the best to you,
      Joan
