Just Playing

Bayard Cutting Arboretum Sunflowers
This could never be a completed painting due to the off size. It's one of those odd size panels.  So I am just playing with the idea of a future painting of this scene.  It does have possibilities, especially with the Mothers Day Show coming up at the Arboretum.  Thought it would be nice to have some paintings of the location we painted last year. I used acrylic paints on panel board. Happy painting everyone.

  1. Terrific paintings! That is the kind of information that should
be shared around the web. Disgrace on Google for no longer positioning this
put up higher! Come on over and consult with my website
    . Thanks =)

  2. Hi there Joan!... Play is the mother of study! This odd... or "off size" makes your subject matter all the more interesting to me personally.

The compositional strategy that you have chosen to use to first get attention in your flower beds... and then to direct the eye up through those towering sun flowers... and drawing us downward finally to the white barn makes excellent use of this square format.

It is a pleasant change from the many panoramas which you prefer as a format.

Play away... and do include this odd ball.... painting in your Mother's Day bouquet! It will receive grand attention!

    Happy Easter!

    Good Painting!
    Warmest regards,
    Bruce

    1. Hi Bruce,

Thank you for the input, so happy you like the composition, and the square format. Mike will have to try and make a frame for it, in the meantime, I have started another 11x14 which is working out rather well.

      All the best to you,
      Joan

  4. Hi Joan.
If this study is for a future painting my friend, then it`s going to be a cracker, for this one is a very good study. Unusual study for you Joan, because it seems that you have zoomed into the subject for which you don`t usually do. Well done Joan and all the best.
    Vic.
