Winter Fun

Winter Fun
6x8 acrylic on canvas panel
I enjoyed painting this little snow scene with hockey players.  So happy I took these shots prior to the snow melting.  I think it's time to move on to a different theme. Possibly a still life, Happy Painting Everyone

Frozen Pond

Frozen Pond
Taking the advice of my fellow bloggers, didn't paint plein air.  Did the second best thing, took photo's of a beautiful place Brightwaters Bayshore.  There is a lovely hamlet of magnificent homes and frozen pond with little white bridges.  Took so many shots, even hockey players, that I will do in the future.  I worked from my ipad, closest thing to painting from life.  Happy we went out on the photo shoot on Sunday, because Monday all the snow was gone.  The temps have been frigid on Long Island, so until it gets a bit warmer I am housebound, working from my sketches and photos.  Also I will be doing some still life paintings.

All in all it is great practice no matter what the reference is, as long as we have a brush or pencil in hand we are happy.  Happy Painting to all.

Day Two

10x12 acrylic on mdf
Promised myself that I would try to paint once a day.  This is a painting I just did from a photo on my ipad. It is of course one of my favorite places, Millers Pond.  I painted by the dining room window to see actual snow and shadows and highlights.  Tomorrow I will try to venture out and paint from nature.  I will just go as far as my front yard, so to see how long I can tolerate the cold.  Happy Painting everyone.

Happy New Year

New Year resolution #1;  to post more often and visit my blogger friends. Everything that is worthwhile is time consuming, but so very rewarding.  Being busy with my little pup is such a delightful distraction.  But the holidays are over and like a child returning to school, it's time to get back to my art studies.

My creative battery has been charged and hopefully tomorrow I will begin another painting.  We are about to experience a blizzard, that should be starting at 9pm this evening  so I am looking forward to painting when we are able to get out. I will also come and visit you my fellow bloggers.  Yes, keeping a blog is something that does take time but so very rewarding to stay connected to all of you.

Once again Happy New Year to all and wishing you all a very healthy, prosperous New Year. Stay safe as well.
