Yesterday was another gorgeous day on Long Island.  This time, Mo and I
enjoyed the day.  I painted this in the yard still experimenting with Arches Huile
Oil paper., and taking photos using the new Kindle fire , posting from it, is trickie.

I am learning how to take better photos and it's all fun.  Happy painting everyone.

Oh What Fun It Is To Play

An Old Barn

So okay the photo is little washed out, still learning how to navigate my Kindle Fire HD
5th generation  from   amazon.com

My recent purchase, this cute little kindle only $49.99.  It takes pictures facing out and in and
I can share directly on my blog or face book.  Once I learn how to improve the editing it will
be  great . Happy Painting everyone.

My ipad doesn't have the capabilities this little kindle has, tomorrow more
photos.

Zorn's Palette

Every once in awhile I like to do studies, using Zorn's limited palette
Cad. Red, Yellow Ochre, Black and white.  It never ceases to amaze me
that so many colors can be made with these few colors.

Dressed and Ready for the Show

Dressed and Ready to show
Conklin House October 16th
If interested in purchasing this painting with frame
please contact me at jsicig@gmail.com

Every year I get to show to paintings at the Conklin House in the village of
Babylon.  What makes it extra special this year, my good friend Hilda Klinger
will be showing again.  Last year it was delightful seeing Hilda participating by showing
her wonderful paintings.

What I love about the show, there is no pressure of competition amongst the artist.
Just artist who are kindred spirits that share the joy and passion of painting.
Did I mention the wonderful reception with delicious cheese, crackers and fruit platters.
And wine, what's not to like.
Happy Painting everyone.  Hilda., will see you tomorrow morning.

The Little Farm House

8x10 acrylic on canvas panel

During the summer, Mike and I drove around the area looking for
farm stands.  I couldn't resist doing this farm house not far
from the vegetable stand.  Yes , got over my ridiculous hang up
about painting from photos.  I love doing both, and yes my dear friend
Vic is so right.  We can't always get out to paint.
What I do know, painting in the studio is not easy, it has it's own
set of challenges.  So thank you my fellow bloggers.
Happy Painting everyone.

Bellport Beach House

Started this on location, but was not able to get back and had to finish
in the studio.  There is so much controversy going on about painting
and finishing on location.  Painting from photos are so necessary at
times, not a favorite of mine.  But truth be told, I really need to have
some form of reference to work from without the guilt of using
photo's.   I know that is silly, there are so many great artist out there that
rely on photo's.
Maybe a balance is the best way to go., paint from life and photo references.
I know there are places that Mike and I will never be able to see, so why not
use the free photos.  Oh, don't mind me, maybe another cup of coffee is needed.
Happy Painting Everyone.

Last week a group of my friends and I went to Port Jefferson to paint.  I started
this on location and it is still a work in progress. Lots to do on this, but taking my time.
Sometimes it's best to leave a painting for awhile than go back with a fresh eye. Happy
Painting Everyone.

From Nurcy's Garden

From Nurcy's garden to our table

Every August my neighbor Nurcy brings so many of her home
grown vegetables . This year she made her home made sauce
from the ripe and delicious tomatoes.

She is a very talented lady and is passionate about her gardening as
we are about our painting. Happy painting everyone.

August Days

Bellport Harbor wip 8x10 oil
Cory Beach gouache sketch wip
Summer Day 5x7 oil sketch
Summer is coming to an end and it has been delightful. These past few days were very hot and humid,
not complaining, for the most part the weather has been kind, without extreme heat or rain.  So that being said I do hope everyone has been enjoying the summer fun of painting outdoors.  Before the days get shorter and colder it is a good time to take advantage of any opportunity we have to get out and paint. Happy Painting Everyone.
