Sand Dunes

A study of sand dunes usinging gouache on cresent board.  Very interesting trying to capture the shadows and the lights, especially in gouache.  Every medium has its pro's and con's.  The gouache drying too fast was a problem this morning. But it is all good .  Happy Painting evryone.

  1. This one is really beautiful, Joan. The design really works well to emphasize the light.
I love gouache - I used it for most of my illustrations...back in the day! I think you did a great job especially considering you didn't have your water mister with you to keep the paint moist.

  2. Thank you Julie, couldn't find the water mister. Too lazy to stop painting to look for one of the many I have through out the house. lol. I do love painting in gouache, it is wonderful to switch the mediums. All the best to you, as always your encouragement and support is truly appreciated. Take care.

  6. Lovely view of the dunes and the path. Hopefully it will be nice enough to plein air paint there soon. Great catching up with you yesterday at the show.
