Visiting my family in Virginia, sketching while children are in school
Watercolor in my journal

It's wonderful seeing my grandchildren.  We are here babysitting.  My daughter has a business meeting and my son in law is working out of town.  So it is Mike and Me . The kids seem to be fine with it, so while they are busy with school and playing with friends I have my art .

Tripod art and photo easel

Testing my tripod easel for the first time
6x8 acrylic on canvas panel
This was more of a test of my easel.  So tired of being a pack horse lugging heavy equipment.
Even the best pochade boxes require a tripod and paints, brushes and panels etc.
With this light weight easel I have learned to lighten my load.

This is my quickie sketch using acrylic paints.  What I like about this, I can switch to oils, or even watercolors
without adding too much extra weight.  I will keep you all posted .  Happy painting everyone.

Plein air at Fire Island

It was one of those perfect days weather wise.  Mike , Mo, and I went to the Fire Island Lighthouse
I painted from the upper deck looking down at the beach.

I wanted to capture the clouds and had to turn my easel facing the opposite position from where
I started.  Took photos to finish this at home.  I wanted to work in acrylics which was
perfect for what I was painting.

This was my first sketch on mdf panel.  Love working with acrylics for painting wet over dry
using the acrylic varnish medium helped with the glazing .  Happy painting everyone.
