Longwood Estate plein air

More a study in fall colors, and tones. It was another beautiful day. This is only a 4x6 on canvas panel.

I have been more interested in making studies, rather than actual compositions. As I look at the artist whose work I admire, my task is to get that balance of color and the importance of graying the colors.

Today my grandchildren are coming over for homemade pizza. Of course it will be an overnight.
Enjoy your weekend everyone.

Stony Brook Plein Air

I actually enjoyed three days of plein air painting. Yesterday being the best of all. Stony Brook Harbor is a wonderful location, the day was magnificent. This was completed on site an 8x10 oil on canvas panel.

Happy painting everyone.

Meadow Croft Plein Air

Today Mike and I went to Meadow Croft Estate. Wanting to capture the beauty of the golden days. Unfortunately, who was it who said "When you fail to plan, You plan to fail" Oh well, it is after all a work in progress. 6x8 oil on canvas board. It does have possibilities, I will go back and finish this or maybe not.

I was told that in 2 weeks that's when the colors are at their peak. I shall return.

Happy painting everyone.

Fall Scenes Side By Side

Had a productive day today. Still working from photo's taken of Brookwood Hall. I do want to get out to paint plein air this week.

Autumn 2

8x10 oil on canvas panel. Using Zorn's palette. Mariano Zucchi introduce me to Zorn's palette last year. It's limited colors of white, black, cad. red light, and cad yellow medium. A fun exercise.

Trying to post. 8x10 oil on panel.

Brookwood Hall plein air

5x7 oil on canvas panel. Tuesday was an overcast gray day. The colors were outstanding next to the gray sky. Actually I just wanted to capture the beauty of the colors and grayness of the sky and water.

An hour later nature started to change the scene. Once again in awe of natures beauty. I will return again to this lovely spot. I also want to add the water fowl.

Happy painting everyone.

An Apple a Day

6x8 oil on canvas mounted board.

Unfortunately I cannot get the photo to look like the actual painting. It looks like a tomato.

Well anyway, I thought it would be fun painting various apples. Maybe tomorrow I will get better results.

Happy painting everyone.

Oh, yes before I forget please welcome back Jan, her blog is With all my art and soul. She is a very talented lady.

Stony Brook Harbor

4x6 oil sketch on raymar panel. I realize that I haven't been producing as much as last year. Granted life has a way of "getting in the way".

But I had another epiphany this morning. My husband usually laughs when I say that. But the truth is my art has been the stabilizing force that gets me through rough times. I don't know who said "when you loose yourself, you find yourself". As you all know, slopping paint onto a canvas, or pushing a pencil is great therapy.
So I say to all my fellow artist out there: Happy Painting.
