Bayard Cutting Aboretum in Oakdale

10x12 oil on mdf board. When my friends painted at this location I was unable to join them. Mike and I went there a few days later, I did a few watercolor sketches and took photos. This was done today from one of my photos. Still a little more tweaking to do, I enjoyed painting this one.

Happy painting to all.

How toSurvive a Heat Wave

This past week we have endured temps well into the 90's. The last two days we hit the 100 mark. The first painting was done on location Stony Brook again. The second was done today in watercolor. The rest of my studies , the peach I ate before completing the study. It was delish!!. the hydrangeas are incomplete, the red roses plucked from my garden this morning.
Have a great weekend and stay cool.

Paint!! That's how to survive a heat wave.

Plein Air

Painting with friends is one of life's joys. On Tuesdays PALS meet and paint at various locations on Long Island. The odd shape oil was done on location. It was from a mdf board scrap piece. It was fun and exciting to create a composition on the odd shape. The second was painted from my plein air sketch and digital photo in the studio.

Now I am off to the back yard to paint in watercolor. I have a strawberry plant that I want to paint. Thanks to Lin Fry, who just painted lovely plums picked from the farmers market.
Happy Painting to Everyone.

Playing with Paint

Two more oils, the first 9x12 of Sands Beach Stony Brook, the second was at one of the marinas from last summer. The Stony Brook was sketched on location and then painted at home. The second was from a digital photo.

It helps to make studio studies and prepare for plein air. Gotta say, once painting outdoors it's pray, paint, and hope for the best. Happy Painting Everyone.
