Watercolor WIP

Frank F. Penney
Frank F. Penney 2

Still working on this composition, these studies are larger than the previous.  They are  11x14
on 140lb. Strathmore w/c paper.  I will continue to work on various papers and I already have a panel all primed for an oil of the same scene.  It's a delightful place and I totally enjoy doing anything that is a challenge.  Happy Painting To All.

Where's The Beef

On St. Patrick's Day, Mike and I celebrate by making the corned beef and cabbage traditional meal.  Although we are of Italian decent, we actually love celebrating this feast day.  While the beef was cooking, Mike tried two different ways to cook the beef, one in the pot, boiled, the other baked. I couldn't resist doing some quick sketches of the cabbage, potatoes, carrots and onions.  Hence the title.  Happy Painting everyone.

"Happy Days Are Here Again"

Pink Rose
Good morning fellow bloggers.  After weeks of feeling as though I was walking in shoes that didn't fit, I decided not to go the three month stretch for DPW and pulled the blog this morning.  Bruce Sherman you have helped me more than you know.  When just simply sketching or my so called little experiments gives me such pleasure and possibly the ground work for a larger painting they should remain as just that, nothing more.

To all of the daily painters out there I truly tip my hat to all of you, for your work and efforts bring joy and happiness to many people.

So for me, it's time to play and doodle and scribble and maybe do a painting.  Happy Painting everyone.

Big Red

Big Red
6x6 oil on RayMar panel

To all my fellow bloggers, first, thank you Virgina Floyd for your answer to my question regarding dpw,  Thank you Vic Errington for your great advice.  I have taken a road that has never been taken before by me.  There are many artist who show and sell their work on sites such as Daily Paint Works and Fresh Daily Painters.  I am giving it a shot and will try to stick with it for at least three months.  In all my years of painting I have shown and sold some of my work at outdoor shows, libraries, members shows and even received  several awards.  But none of that has been a motivating factor in why I choose to paint.  A simple love of painting is the reason.  If my attempt at selling on line does not achieve any success, that
will be okay.  I haven't lost anything.

Bottom line, I thank God , for giving me this wonderful gift of enjoying my art.  Happy Painting everyone.

This was painted last summer.  I've been posting on my Daily Paintworks web site and wanted to add the same paintings daily.  I have been working on new work as well.  Hoping everyone is enjoying this fine spring like weather with exception of Bruce Sherman, I believe he is still knee high in snow.  Happy Painting everyone.

Peconic Bay
                                                                            18x24 oil on mdf

A painting from last summer.  We have such beautiful beaches on Long Island.  It's that time of year when we start looking for nature to put on its glorious show of spring flowers and soft gentle breeze of being outdoors. Yes Vic, it's time to focus a little more on my oils and acrylics.  Happy Painting Everyone.

Waiting For Spring

Waiting For Spring
8x10 acrylic on canvas panel
It seems we wish our lives away.  Waiting for one thing or another.  In October, waiting and wishing for snow.  Now that we are in March, the one snow we had was enough.  Time to move on for our next season.  I painted these  flowers last spring.  Years ago my father planted a small Peony plant.  It took three years for the first bloom.  Many years have past.  Every spring it is like having my father visit.
