Back Home

Hi fellow bloggers, Mike and I returned home yesterday.  Already missing the grandchildren and my daughter and son-in-law.  Nursing a nasty cold, so no painting for me today.  Determined to feel better tomorrow, did some sketching with my grand daughter, at seven  she already has developed great drawing skills, and a good sense of color.  God bless these children that have such an interest in the arts at such a young age.  At the risk of sounding like a proud grandma, my grandson has such a natural ability to play the piano and he also enjoys art.

So okay enough bragging.  Back to work tomorrow, and for now I will visit all of my blogger buddies  Happing painting every one.

The Old and the New

Millers Pond, 8x10 study from last January
8x10 oil, still life study of eggs

Looking through my photos from last year , when we had snow , came across my  study of Miller  Pond .  After seeing so many artist that I admire , doing larger paintings from their smaller plein air or smaller studio studies has inspired to me to go larger.  Haven't decided on the composition, but do know there are so many smaller works that are possibilities.

The still life with eggs is a something I set up this week.  Still needs tweaking, just will let it sit for awhile.  My thoughts are on larger paintings.

Mike and I are going to visit my daughter , so I will probably post when we return.  Happy Painting everyone.

Monday study of pears

8x10 oil , still life with pears
Three 5x7 oil studies of pears

I sent Mike out to buy some pears, thought it would be fun to get back to painting fruit in oils.  It was and  very  interesting.  We will eat these before they go bad.  I will continue to study the various shapes and colors of this delightful fruit.  Nature never ceases to amaze me.  Happy Painting everyone.

Meadow Farm 2

Meadow Farm 2

Another gouache painting of Meadow Farm, this is an 8x10 on Multi media board.   Yesterday  was a watercolor art group meeting at the library.  It was a fun 2hrs. very nice people, just meeting to paint whatever we want.  I worked from a still life set up.  While blogging is very enjoyable , it is also so important to be with other artist sharing and enjoying the process of painting or sketching.  Happy Painting Everyone.

WIP for the New Year

11x14 Islip Marina oil, wip

After seeing my friend Vic'c blog and his paintings in oil, I am so inspired to work in oil.  He has always inspired me, he is an amazing artist.
Today's continuation of the Arboretum

This photo is a poor quality photo, first of all is crooked, and the glare of the wet paint doesn't help.  But this blog is just a journal of what was done today.  I am quite happy that painting is front and center once again.  So from here on it's, Practice, Practice, Practice.  Happy painting everyone.

Road to East Islip Marina sketch

A few days before Christmas, Mike and I  drove to the East Islip Marina.  I wanted to capture the atmosphere of the gray sky with the gold grasses.  The Marina is closed, probably due to Sandy's damage.
Road to East Islip Marina

So this is just another watercolor sketch of the road leading to the Marina. So, as I write Sue, Mike and  Rose are watching NCIS.  I look forward to a full and productive year of painting.  With the help of God.  I wish for all of you fellow bloggers to have a very productive , healthy, happy New Year.   Happy Painting everyone.
